Skilled Hands, Expert Care: Meet Our Hand Therapy Specialist

At Mishock Physical Therapy & Associates, we pride ourselves on offering specialized care that goes beyond general physical therapy. We are thrilled to introduce you to our newest team member, Jon, an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).

Jon is an established OT who brings a unique blend of practical experience and advanced certification, and we are excited for him to provide expert-level upper extremity rehabilitation at our Gilbertsville and Limerick locations. Below, Jon shares his non-traditional journey, his dedication to restoring function, and what makes Certified Hand Therapy so critical for recovery.

Meet Your Therapist

Hello! I’m Jon, an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). I have spent over 28 years devoted to helping people recover and regain independence, specializing in the complex mechanics of the hand and upper extremity.

Where You Can Find Me: Mishock Physical Therapy & Associates

I am proud to join the team at Mishock Physical Therapy & Associates and will be splitting my work duties between two convenient locations:

  • • Gilbertsville
  • • Limerick

My Path: A Non-Traditional Education

My journey wasn’t typical! After high school, I wanted to be a carpenter. I graduated with honors from the Carpentry program at Thaddeus Stevens Trade School (1990) and worked in the trade for several years.

It was during this time that I put myself through college, ultimately graduating Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. The hands-on problem-solving skills I learned as a carpenter are still invaluable to me today!

My Specialty: Certified Hand Therapy (CHT)

In 2005, I became a Certified Hand Therapist, a specialty certification achieved through The Hand Therapy Certification Committee (HTCC).

What is a CHT?

A CHT is an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physical Therapist (PT) who has achieved advanced specialization in the rehabilitation of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder.

  • • Custom splinting
